Viva Las Vegas!

This picture was taken on Freemont Street in Las Vegas.  Daddy took Mommy there for Valentine's Day.  Of course, us bunnies had to stay home.

Well, not exactly.  We spent the weekend at Auntie Kim's house!  She has a big basement that she doesn't use all that much so we had our two xpens set up down there.  Binky and I haven't seen or smelled Ella and Scooter since the cottage last summer, but there they were, right across from us, looking at us the whole time.

Ella and Binky have a deep-set hatred for each other.  "I see you there, you little brown bunny!" Binky would snarl.  "Yeah?  Well I see you too!"  Ella would growl back.  There was a lot of posturing and ignoring for the most part seeing as neither one could actually get at the other.

Scooter would come over to our cage during his out time.  He's a friendly guy but I'm not too keen on another boy being around my girl.  And he seems to have completely forgotten about the time Binky attacked him and bit his you-know-what.  I have no idea how you could ever forget THAT but he sure was skipping around our xpen like he had no recollection of it.

Mom and Dad think it's a shame that the four of us were never able to bond, not even when we moved into our new house and had all neutral territory.  But that's the way the bunny bounces right?  Miss Binks and Ella are just two girls who will NEVER get along and well, Scooter and I can't seem to figure out who's boss either.  So there we were, two bonded pairs spenting five days looking across at each other, reminded of the fact that the other two exist.

Auntie Kim is really nice.  She has a lot of animals at her house - a foster bunny, two foster hamsters and 7 degus of her own.  She gave us nice treat hay for snacking and would sit down with us and read us stories.  That was really nice.  And she doesn't just "read" them either - she gets right into it and makes them sound exciting!  I hope we get to stay at her house again one day.

But low and behold, Mom and Dad did return from Vegas and they came to pick us up.  Our little holiday was nice but there really is no place like home.  As soon as Binks and I hopped out of our carrier, we hid under the coffee table and flopped out next to each other.  Miss Binks groomed my ear.  "Thank goodness I don't have to stare at those two any more!  They make my whiskers curl!"

"Oh Binks!  Just remember, I think we make their whiskers curl, too!" I said.  "Really?  Do you think so?  Well then....GOOD!" And with that she hunkered down next to me with her eye half closed as I reciprocated with the licks.  "Don't worry my Girl..." I reassured her, "I'll uncurl those whiskers for you!"

Spreadin' The Love

It's that time of year - Valentine's Day is just around the corner.  So of course, this little post is going to be about my one and only girl, Miss Binky Binkowski.

We bonded almost instantly - it really was love at first sight.  We met in the bathroom of Mommy's old condo.  I ran up to her and gave her a good sniff and she sniffed me too.  I was so excited to see such a pretty girl bunn!  I had been living in a small cage in a shelter so I was happy not only to be able to run around but to also meet such a pretty girl on my very first day in my new home!

Mom knows now she should have been more cautious about the bonding, taking the time to do it right - but really, right from the first time I laid eyes on her, I was in love...

"Awww Fluffy, you are so sweet!  I knew as soon as I saw you, too, that you and I were going to be together forever!  Such a handsome bunny - I was so glad you were going to stay!"

Well, we sniffed and sniffed and then I made the move.  I mounted her...and well, the rest is history!  Within a week we were sharing everything, and we have not looked back since.

We've had our ups and downs, like when I had head tilt and when Binky lost her sight, but we have never forgotten how much we love each other.  Mom and Dad say we inspire them to be better people and remind them to always love one another.  Well, I sure do love my Binky Girl.  "And I love you too, Fluffy...."

So Hoppy Valentine's Day everyone.  Take the time to snorgle someone special this year, whether it be your significant other, a parent or child, a pet, a best friend or your favourite teddy bear.  We could all use a little more lovin' in this world....

Love Bites

Well, for the first time ever, I'm not the bunny in trouble around here - it's Miss Binks!  Yup.  Check out this picture of Daddy.  He was snorgling with Binky last night when things got a little out of hand.

"OOOOOOOOOOOooooooowwwwwwwwww!" was the blood-curdling scream Mommy heard from three floors up.  "HUN!!!!  Come downstairs!  And bring some Kleenex!"  When Mom got down there she found Daddy with a bloody mouth, Miss Binks still sitting on his chest.

"What happened?!"  she asked.  "I was snorgling with Miss Binks and she bit me......."  Mom gave Dad the Kleenex and then took Miss Binks in her arms to make sure she was okay.  "Awww, Miss Binks, your eye is bulging.  Did Dada scare you with his yell?"  I'm pretty sure he did because Binky had quite the perturbed look on her face.  "It's okay my girl......"  She got smooches and a treat and Mommy put her on the floor.  Then she went to tend to Daddy.

Binky came running over to me.  "Binky, what happened?" I asked.

"Well, I was snorgling with Dada and I wanted to go back on the floor so I went to give him a little nip like I always do, but he turned his head really fast and it spooked me and the next thing I knew, he was screeching like a mad squirrel!  Oh my goodness!  It scared me!"

"Holy cow Binks!  You sure must've gotten him good!"

"I didn't mean to!  It was an accident!"

Mom and Dad went upstairs after that.  It took a good hour for his lip to stop bleeding and he put lots of ice on it to keep the swelling down.  He moaned for a good part of the evening but justifiably so.  It was quite the gash...

Later in the night, after the lights were out and everyone was settled in for the night, Daddy sneaked downstairs to see Binky.  He picked her up and they cuddled once more.  "Dada, I am so sorry I bit your lip.  I didn't mean to..." she said.  "That's okay Miss Binks.  I know, you are blind and sometimes fast and sudden movements catch you off guard.  Dada will be sure to be more careful from now on."  He held her on his chest, snorgling the side of her face.  "You are my very special girl - you know that, right?" he whispered.  "Yes Dada, and you are very special to me too." Miss Binks gave him some licks on the side of his nose.  "I love you, Dada..."

"I love you too, my Binky Girl..."

There's A New Couch In Town....

There's a new couch in town - and I LOVE it!  It's a sectional and it's big and red and soft and roomy!  "Fluffy, it's not red, it's burgundy..."  Whatever Mom.

Our last couch was a thorn in Dad's side.  It was a small, skinny leather couch that he bought because the larger, more sophisticated-looking leather couch he bought wouldn't fit down the stairs so back to the store it went.  Mom warned him about buying a leather couch for the basement and after two years of cold naps, pillows that slip and slide and less-than-adequate accomodations for both Mom and Dad to snorgle, Dad raised his hands in defeat.  "I hate this couch!  You were right!  We're getting a new one!"

Well, it took a little longer than expected as a few couches were purchased before Mom and Dad found one that would fit down the stairs and into the family room.  This sectional came in three separate pieces which was it's saving grace.  Now Mom and Dad are always down here watching tv and movies with us.  There is enough room for ALL of us on this big couch!

It's a little higher than the last one so I've had to adjust my Launch Plan, but it's so big and deep and soft, it's the perfect place for me to boss around those Stupid Blankets I got for Christmas!  And Binky has her own little house up there to snuggle in too.  Sometimes she even comes out to help me keep those Blankets in line - "What did you say to my Fluffy?!  Oh he is NOT dumb, no sir!  You get a bite for that!"  That's my girl.  She's hot when she's tough.

So Binks and I aren't the only ones snorgling in the family room anymore.  At first I was kind of annoyed to have Mom and Dad around EVERY evening, cuddling us bunnies on the new big red couch, being all goofy towards each other.  "Geez you two!  I don't know how much more of this lovin' I can take!"

"Oh Fluffy!" Mom says, "What can we say?  You and Binky inspire Mommy and Daddy to snorgle each other!"

I guess that's not such a bad thing.  But just to reiterate, I might be all snuggly with my Binks, but I really am one Big Tough Lop when it comes to those Stupid Blankets....
